Tarot by Comparison™ – The Hermit Tarot Card Meaning

Let’s continue the Tarot by Comparison™ with The Hermit tarot card.

For this comparison, I have used these decks: Happy Tarot, The Steampunk Tarot, Wizards Tarot, and Gilded Tarot.

The Hermit card may seem pretty obvious: someone living alone in the woods. But “The Hermit” goes deeper than that!

This card is all about solitude and self reflection. Taking time away from everything to be alone with oneself to learn and heal.

The Hermit is about soul searching and truth seeking and finding wisdom within.

But how do we get this definition from these images?

This card focuses heavily on the man before you, in dark surroundings, with just one small lantern to light his way. The darkness makes me think “inward” and the lantern makes me think he’s searching for light or guidance.

In all of the images you can feel the peace and quiet. It looks lonely, but that isn’t the theme here; it’s the good kind of “peaceful loneliness” that our souls crave when we need to reset from the harsh experiences in the world around us.
